Interning at Bowling Green State University’s Athletic department, I gained a lot of hands-on experience designing for print, social media, large scale, and videoboard applications. This internship allowed me to be able to create very energetic and engaging designs, further enhancing the fan experience. This experience has helped me grow as a designer by adapting to tight deadlines, receiving feedback, and creating work seen by a large, live audience.

Key Takeaways
01
Building within an established system
Working as an intern at Bowling Green State University in the Athletic Department, it’s important to bring fresh and new ideas to the work I put out. It was important to balance new ideas but also keep the design on brand and cohesive to what has been made in the past.
02
Designing for emotion & energy
Designing within an athletic apartment, it’s important to design for the specificity of the sport or moment. In my animation work used throughout led boards and video boards, I had to pay attention to the pacing and the emotion that would be evoked from each animation prompt.
03
Considering the audiences
I had to consider the audience and capture the integrity of each sport.
